Back in 2013, Wargaming bought over the cash-strapped studio known as Gas Powered Games. Founded by Chris Taylor, the studio is most well-knowned for the Dungeon Siege series and Supreme Commander games. Renamed to Wargaming Seattle after the purchase, the team went on to work on a “big free-to-play MMO under the Wargaming name.” Over the past 5 years, nothing was really seen or heard about this mystery project.
According to Gamastura, a now-former staff of Wargaming Seattle re-accounts a surprise “all-hands” meeting where Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi announced the entire studio would be shut down. Wargaming later confirmed the closure as part of a “restructuring process” and “every member of the 150-strong team that has been working on an unannounced MMO project will be offered a severance package.” 5 years of work erased in one morning!
