[Source] PUBG Corp, the new entity setup last year by developer Bluehole to oversee everything related to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), recently filed a lawsuit in a Northern California court against Chinese gaming giant NetEase over the PUBG clones, Knives Out and Rules of Survival. PUBG Corp alleged that these games contain “similar visual and audio elements” to PUBG. Fortnite Battle Royale is not mentioned in the lawsuit.
While NetEase has yet to make a comment, the case will only begin its “Initial Case Management Conference” process on 18 July, 2018. In the full documentation obtained by TorrentFreak, PUBG Corp made several visual comparisons between the 3 games, and alleged that NetEase has committed copyright infringement and trade dress infringement, as well as engaging in unfair business competition. Who do you think will win this lawsuit?
