Soon after Nexon announced its office in Thailand to fuel its Southeast Asia expansion, an even more bombastic news dropped today. Tencent Games, owner of Riot Games (League of Legends) and Clash of Clans (Supercell), announced it has purchased Sanook Online, a local internet company.
Sanook touts to have over 30 million active monthly users domestically. Tencent Thailand will focus on three businesses in the future: news portal business led by Sanook Online and iPick, entertainment and multimedia by JOOX and Tencent Games, and services by Top Space, an advertising agency.
