One of the top grossing mobile games in Japan, Monster Strike has met with various obstacles trying to make the overseas gamers fall in love with the game. Developer Mixi recently announced it has suspended marketing efforts in North America. Earlier this year, Mixi released the “localized” trailer for North America, and apparently claimed an anime-style trailer wouldn’t suit the region.
Of course, Mixi is talking crap, and the multi-million campaign and advertising partnership with Facebook never gained much traction. Today, Mixi announced Monster Strike is ceasing operations in Korea this November, during the game’s 2-year anniversary. Tencent closed down Monster Strike China last year, and it seems Mixi is preparing to re-enter the challenging yet lucrative market soon.
