Following rumors of the Diablo III going Free-to-Play in China, reports have risen in China with quotes from NetEase, the publisher. The Chief Marketing Officer (below) has claimed that Diablo III China will be Buy-to-Play, similar to all versions of the game. He claimed that the China server will also have the same drop rates, similar to all Blizzard games it is publishing.
So what about the various new Free-to-Play mechanics players have data-mined? Blizzard couldn’t have possibly added them just for fun or to waste time. The developer had also claimed the mechanics will not be implemented on the Europe or North America servers. Diablo III China will enter its Technical Test phase on 24 March to a limited number of applicants.
