After providing a tease last week, Shanda Games and 2K Games officially announced Borderlands Online exclusively for China earlier! Developed by Gearbox Software, the game will launch next year. Shanda Games has announced it will also be publishing a Borderlands mobile game in the country, although I am not sure if it is one of the current existing ones.
For the China-exclusive Borderlands Online, the characters are divided into classes: Warrior, Wizard (?!), Berserker, and Ranger. The game will build on the existing Borderland titles, and 2K Games will set up a new team to develop and maintain the game in China (most likely with help from Gearbox Software as well). The move is somewhat similar to Activition’s Call of Duty Online, which is exclusive to China too. Welcome to Pandora!
