Stuck in-between the release of Perfect World’s 2 major titles, Swordsman Online and Legend of the Condor Heroes: Zero, Holy King is pretty much like the “filler” title in most gamers’ eyes. However, Holy King’s really unique features may prove to be a sleeper hit instead.
While I have talked about the features before, here is a recap. In Holy King, players can “swallow” items, obtain stats boost and change into them, for example, a tree or a wall with a system call “Soul Change”. Players who are into PvP can disguise themselves, and ambush others.
For players with a higher level of “god sight”, they will be able to see through these disguises and form a counter-attack plan before walking straight into the trap. This made me wonder what other online games in the market are doing such a function…
Let us move on to the recently announced character classes. There are 3 categories of classes, being Combat, Mystic and Production, each with a further 3 classes. In case you are wondering, production classes are really primary classes in the game.
Let us start off with Combat. The Combat Master is the complete melee class, as it can be an ultra defensive tank, a close-range DPS, and even reflecting damage for the party, making it a must-have member.
The Mage, attuned to the elements of Gold, Earth and Wood, is the ranged DPS for both single and multiple targets with high burst damage, while also having the least defensive abilities. The Cleric class acts as the healer and buffer, attuned to the element of Water.
Next up is Mystic. The Summoner class, as the name suggests, summons mystical beasts as its main source of damage which can also be combined to form stronger ones. This class also has the ability to temporarily summon giant bosses to take part in battles.
The Tactician is a class specializing in formations and traps, expanding their control of a certain area. The effects of these AOE spells and traps will prove deadly if there are multiple Tacticians in the party. The Puppeteer class summons mechanical machines to ride in, with the Attack, Defense and Support types available to choose from.
Finally, Production. The Pill Master produces pills to both support party members during battles, and also using destructive pills as weapons when thrown at enemies, pretty much like bombs.
The Crafter class’ primary attack function is not mentioned, but it can craft tons of rare items to be sold to players. Never look down on a Crafter filled with gold and powerful items… And last but not least, the Rune Master. This class is able to produce runes and imbue them with both attack and support skills. They can be used during combat, or simply sold to other players.
