After announcing NBA star Dwyane Wade as 1 of the 3 American spokesperson for RIFT China, publisher Shanda Games has revealed the game’s 2nd spokesperson, actress MaggieQ. This is Shanda’s marketing plan for the game, spending millions on American stars to prove to the China gamers how great an American-developed game RIFT is.
The words accompanying MaggieQ’s post on Weibo simply reads “Hey, play a P2P game with me.” Of course, unless gamers really devolved, they should really know that it is just a marketing account, not really posted by MaggieQ herself. I doubt she knows what RIFT is, or MMORPG for that matter.
According to reports, Dwyane Wade represents American sports, MaggieQ represents American TV and the final spokesperson will be a singer, representing American music. Shanda is heavily relying on the awards RIFT has won in America to promote the game in China, which stays as a P2P title. RIFT China enters Open Beta on 6th March next month.
