According to the latest news release from Korea, NCsoft has hired renowned music producer, Taro Iwashiro, as Blade & Soul’s music supervisor. Hailing from Japan, Taro Iwashiro composed music for several games, including Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny and the China-filmed movie epic, Red Cliff.
This addition to the team is coined as the “golden triangle”, with veteran James Bae leading the game development and Hyung-Tae Kim as its art director.
Other notable works by him include the live action film for Prince of Tennis, the anime film Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos and a past film for anime classic, Rurouni Kenshin In all, he has participated in over 80 projects (link) from films to games to drama series.
Utilizing his vast experience in entertainment media and a 100-man strong orchestra, Taro Iwashiro is tasked to infuse Blade & Soul with captivating Asian melodies which will add a new dimension to different scenarios in the game.
Several traditional musical instruments in Korea will be used as part of the orchestra as well. Music in Blade & Soul will support both 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound, providing a cinema-like experience for the gamers.
