As part of Hangame eX 2011’s lineup, Acheron is the only online game developed using one of the current big 2 graphics engine, Unreal 3 Engine. The game aims to focus on individual gameplay with the aid of secondary summons call Jinns. Today, the debut trailer was revealed and the Korean media has a chance to talk with the game’s development team. Read on!
It is a MMORPG where players are supported by a secondary summon, with multi-control. This is sort of similar to the system found in Granado Espada. However, while Granado Espada focuses on all 3 main characters to play, Acheron will clearly differentiate between the primary and secondary characters. Players can think of Acheron as a summon-based online game as well, with players engaging in epic battles as a group.
The secondary support summon system is the core battle system in Acheron. In the beginning, each character will have 2 slots of summons to fill up. As they level, the slots can be expanded to a maximum of 5. Yes it means players can actually summon a maximum5 support characters/ monsters at any one time.
However, there are some summons which takes up more than 1 single slot. These support characters can be collected throughout the game, with them strengthening as players progress. In the 2nd half of the game’s content, there will be secondary characters which will aid in castle siege. This system is used in PvP as well. Players will need to choose the right combinations for different situations.
In Acheron, the main reason for partying is for the healing spells from the healer class. In Acheron, the summons do not have the ability to heal. Acheron’s focus on single-play is obviously stronger, but we are looking to implement more benefits for players to party up.
There are currently 2 major endgame content. One will be castle siege, the other being collecting all available summons in the game.
Acheron was in development for the past 3 years. As no one in the team had experience with the Unreal 3 Engine, we spent a large amount of time getting used to it. Acheron was always meant to be a title based on battle strategies, and we will continue to make sure the game stays on track.
The Japanese server will be hosted by NHN Japan, while the servers for China, Europe, North America etc is currently scheduled to be operated by us. We already have an office in South America to publish Acheron.
