As I previewed over the past few weeks, NED: The New Era of Fantasy is an upcoming MMO by Korean developer, WeMade Entertainment, and will be on show for the very first time at G*Star 2010. Having been in production for 5 years, what are some of the features players can expect? Here is a brief introduction on some of them (do note that information might change as the game reaches the beta phase).
Pet and Mount system: Players may use various pet food to lure and tame wild monsters (even flying ones), using them as their mounts and pets. An interesting fact, for bigger and higher level flying monsters, players may first ride on their previously tamed flying mount and drop of the former’s back, then tame the bigger flying monster. Sounds really neat! However, if taming fails, players will have to battle the monster. NED supports mounted battles too, for both flying and ground mounts. As these mounts/pets each have their own elemental attributes, it is wise players choose the right one to use in different environments. During large-scale PvP battles, players who are mounted and fighting on the ground can be supported by those sitting on flying mounts, hence covering both land and air. Can you imagine the scene right now?
Farming system: Every character in the game will be able to obtain a farm once the requirements are met. Not only can players produce crops and plants, but they will be also be able to rear livestock too. As all the farms are located in the actual open world, players much help each other to protect their farms from monster attacks. I read that plants in the farms can be stolen by other players too! Imagine PKing each other over stealing a tiny parsley plant… Different types of soil grows different plants, hence with all the produce, players will then be able to trade with each other depending on which item they need. However, if I read correctly, there will be limited farm space for players, hence farms can be traded.
