G*Star 2010 will be starting in Busan, Korea later in November and over the next few months, any rumors or spoilers will be posted here (as long as I source them out)! For the very first G*Star 2010 news, classic platform game, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online, will be revealed at the convention. The game is a joint effort between Korean MMO developer, Seed9 and of course, Japanese gaming company Capcom. After Rockman Online, it seems that Capcom is pushing hard to MMO-nized some classic franchises.
A short introduction on the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series of games, it was first developed in 1985 by Capcom exclusively for the gaming arcades. The game was ported to various consoles over time. The storyline is rather straightforward: Play as a knight, Sir Arthur, and rescue the kidnapped princess after going through various monsters, including zombies, orges and demons. The game was later by the Ghouls ‘n Ghouls series, before a Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins was released in 2006 for the Playstaton Portable (PSP).
An interesting note, Sir Arthur actually made guest apperances in various Capcom games, and for me, I remember him as the extra character you can get when playing the Marvel Vs Capcom game, where he comes out and throws his lance at the opponent. Ring any bells?
Speaking of the online version, the Korean media reported that it will be will built on the concepts found in Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Seed9 has spared no costs in hyping up the official unveiling of the game, renting a 30-stall space just to showcase their masterpiece. Am really intrigued myself ๐
