A few days back, I posted about Webzen revealing Red 5 Studios’ new MMO, Project T, at this year’s PAX 2010. Well, the game has now been revealed to be a Free to Play MMO named Firefall. Former lead designer of Tribes and Tribes 2, Scott Youngblood, is the game’s lead designer once again and he promises to “thrusts hundreds of players together into a lush, dynamic open world combining intense competitive multiplayer and large-scale cooperative gameplay”. Like most F2P MMOs, expansions and updates will not cost players any extra money (strange for him to mention this as it has always been lke this for F2P MMOs).
CEO and Chief Creative Officer Mark Kern, a former team lead for World of Warcraft, says the project is a result of wanting to do something radically different. “I wanted to take the best of what I learned making online games and bring that to skill-based shooters,” he says.
