If you have not read about it, Swordsman Online is one of the latest MMORPG revealed by Perfect World Entertainment to be released for the English market in the future.
Swordsman Online looks to be one of the most sophisticated martial arts MMORPG ever developed, with players able to dodge attacks (with physical movements) and disarm players in PvP. There are more features to come, so stay tuned!
In this post, we are going to have a look at 2 of the most powerful skills in the martial arts universe of the author, Jin Yong. You might remember him as the author of the famed Return of the Condor Heroes and many other popular wuxia novels.
The first set of skills is known as Nine Swords of Dugu, of directly translated as Nine Swords of Loneliness. This set of skills is supposedly the most powerful of all, developed by eccentric swordsman, Dugu Qiubai, or directly translated as Begging for Defeat. There are 9 styles within this skill set, each countering various types of weapons and even internal energy.
Linghu Chong, the main character in the Swordsman novel, will eventually learn Nine Swords of Dugu. And yes, players who have reached various requirements in the game will also be able to learn it! I doubt it will be an easy task though…
The second ultimate skill is known as the Star Absorbing Skill. Anyone who mastered this skill will be able to absorb the internal energy of his or her opponent and use it as their own.
Developed originally by the unorthodox sect, Xiao Yao (or Carefree) Sect as 2 different skills, they were eventually forged into 1. However, there will be side effects after using this skill, mostly due to the user’s inability to control a sudden surge in internal energy, causing serious internal injury etc.
In order to counter the side-effects, one can learn the skill (directly translated) call Mixture Skill. Ok, I know it sounds funny in English, but this skill can only be learned from Ren Woxing, Swordsman’s main female character’s father, who was also the ex-leader of Sun Moon Holy Cult.
While not mentioned on Swordsman Online’s Chinese website, another skill which can neutralize Star Absorbing Skill’s side effects will be Shaolin’s Yijin Jing (more here), a powerful internal skill. And yeah, I have been watching the various drama and movie incarnations of the Swordsman novel, hence I know
