If you have surfed around some MMO websites, you might have came across this new Korean MMORPG, titled Kabod Online. Developed by Korean studio, Kabod Entertainment, it is a hardcore title with various scenes of nudity and extreme violence, hence limited only to players who are over 18 years of age. The target group the company is aiming at is actually male gamers between the age 25 to 35 (I am outside the target range! ^^). So what features are there in this rather disturbing game?
1. Players are encouraged to PK randomly, called the Crime System. PKers can grab some items off their fallen prey, and also earn special titles for themselves as they accumulate their kills. Special titles and quests will be available for such players, and even exclusive towns where only the top tier PKers will be able to enter. But of course, such players will not be able to enter “peaceful” towns. However, there will be Hunter NPCs who are out to get these players, so its a really tough choice to make!
2. Other than being able to develop friendships with others, players will be able to engage in a relationship with various NPCs. I know it sounds creepy, but players will be able to interact with these NPCs and affect their mindset, even performing actions like hugging or kissing them.
3. Perhaps the most famous feature in Kabod Online, both players and some mobs will gradually shed their clothing as they are beaten down. There will be 3 stages to this “shedding” and note that there will be no mosaic in the game itself.
4. The equipment upgrading system will feature a small element of “gambling”, known as Magic Pattern. After unsealing any equipment for upgrading, players will have to place the equipment and the upgrade catalyst into a window. There is no 100% success rate at any level, so its either fail or success. If failed, all items will be gone. If succeed, the equipment will be upgraded with powerful stats.
