Recently confirmed by both parties, Pearl Abyss and Kakao Games have come to an agreement where the former will obtain the publishing rights of Black Desert Online for the region of South Korea starting from 30 May. This means that developer Pearl Abyss will now be directly handling publishing duties for the popular MMORPG worldwide for the PC and console versions other than North America and Europe. It also marks one of the very rare times where the original data will also be transferred to Pearl Abyss. In previous cases, such as CrossFire, data transfers to the new publisher was never approved. It seems that Pearl Abyss has put its profits to good use when discussing the deal with Kakao Games.
