Dragon’s Prophet is a Taiwan-developed MMORPG conceived by Runewaker, the same minds behind Runes of Magic (RoM). As the game’s title suggests, there will indeed be many interactions with the grand and majestic reptile, dragons. I shall skip the storyline and go straight into some of the core gameplay features.
So just how many dragons are there? Well, there is no official number yet, but according to exclusive presentation slides, there are currently 8 different categories of them. According to the slides below, they are:
1. Heavy (thick outer skin, able to carry heavy weights)
2. Predator (balance in both speed and attack)
3. Rush (fastest land travel speed, hunts in numbers)
4. Flying (rulers of the skies, the only dragon type with which can fly other than Ancients)
5. Gliding (gliding ability due to body structure, ambushes prey)
6. Aqua (strong jaws and moves fastest in the water)
7. Bug (a type with various alternative looks and abilities)
8. Ancients (rarest dragon type)
So what do players actually do with all these dragons? Well, you catch and train them of course! Pretty much like a pet system, players will have to allocate skills for them, fight with them and PvP as well!
But do take note of what types of dragons you are gunning for (especially in terms of size), as the player below might find that out in a hard way…
Talking about PvP, there will be guild territories to fight for and construct your own town, house, castle (as the location for PvP territory control), resources and more, which you can see in the slides below. I just drooled thinking about the different types of dragons fighting each other in mass PvP combat @_@
Instanced dungeons wise (what would MMOs do without them), there are currently 2 types revealed, adventure and storyline. Each dungeon will have 5 different difficulty level as well, making it possible for players to solo them (I am guessing not many good items drop then).
Before I forget, and it actually did not cross my mind till I was about to publish this post, there are currently 4 player classes selectable. They are loosely known as Dragon Blood Warrior (melee tank), Dragon Shadow Ranger (physical ranged), Dragon Breath Wizard (magic ranged) and Dragon Theory Disciples (support). Apparently the dragons are really getting the VIP treatment in this game.
There are many cross-servers functions being planned as well. As of now, only the Taiwanese and Japanese (under Aeria Games Japan) are confirmed. Currently taking part in Taipei Game Show 2012, perhaps more overseas servers will be confirmed in due time.
