First announced back in May, the details of Valve suing a China developer was made public recently. Valve, citing Lilith Games and publisher Longtu Game infringing on its Dota IP in《刀塔传奇》, one of China’s hottest mobile games, is seeking nearly 5 million USD (31 million RMB) in compensation, including the game’s closure and a public apology from both developer and publisher.
Longtu Games claim it will fight for its rights and follow the law procedures as its next step. There is currently no date set for the official court sessions to begin. 《刀塔传奇》 is also known as Dot Arena in Southeast Asia, Allstar Heroes in Europe, Soul Clash in Japan, and Dotop Story in South Korea. Valve has only sued the game in China, meaning all other versions are unlikely to be affected.
