Yes, Playstation 3 Slim has been confirmed just minutes ago at the Sony Gamescon Conference. Its now called PS3, not Playstation 3 or Playstation 3 Slim… Funny.
The system will be out during the first week of September 2009.
Known specs:
-: 32 per cent smaller, 36 per cent lighter, consumes 34 per cent less power than the original
-: 120GB, will retail for $299 in North America, 299 euros in the EU, and 29,980 yen in Japan
-: Same prices above for original PS3 (price cut)
-: Will not be able to play PS2 games (click for source)
I don’t usually look too much into console gaming, but the fact is that MMORPGs are one by one moving towards consoles like PS3 and Xbox360, its hard to ignore this upcoming trend. Think my brother should be getting the slim when its out.
