[Source] Japanese games publisher and developer, GungHo Online Entertainment, has teamed up with Softbank to invest $1.5 billion in Supercell, the Finnish developer of Clash of Clans. This “strategic investment” will also see GungHo and Softbank acquire a 51% majority stake in the developer.
Supercell CEO noted that despite the major investment, “we are still in full control of our future and will continue to operate independently.” This deal values Supercell at almost $3 billion, eclipsing the estimated $200 million Zynga paid for acquiring OMGPOP, makers of Draw Something.
