[Source] Announced last month, RED actually stands for Revolution, Evolution and Delight. It is also MapleStory’s annual summer update, with tons of new features, content, revamps and more. As suual, RED is divided into 3 parts, each being added from July till early August.
1. First Impact
The first update is known as “First Impact”, and will totally revamp the adventurer classes. All 13 jobs will be completely remade with 120 changed skills, along with the special adventurer-only Free Advancement system, a new story line, and the removal of skill books and mastery books.
Each job will have its characteristics redefined, with Dual Blade and Cannon Shooter joining as the new adventurers.
2. Child of God
The second update is known as “Child of God”, with the new class, Zero, making his/her appearance along with the promised Auction House system. Better late than never, I guess 🙂 Zero will have have what is called an upgraded quest system, and starts at level 100 upon creation.
Zero actually consists of 2 characters side-by-side of each other, meaning players control 2 characters at once. They are called Zero Alpha and Zero Theta, and players will have to equip both characters, not just 1. But for cash items, 1 will apply to both characters.
Zero Alpha and Beta will have separate skill trees which will be managed separately, as well as different HP and Ability gauges. In combat, Zero Alpha will have moving attacks and critical attack specialized hunting. Zero Alpha will have high defence and healing.
Players can switch between them with the tag system or use the assist system to use powerful combination attacks. Instead of MP, Zero uses the Time Force ability gauge, which is almost limitless. There are more special features for this class, but players will have to find out when the update is live.
There will be a new world, the Mirror World, which is like another view of Maple World. Could the Black Mage have created a fictional world? This place will have a chapter-type story, with mainstream quest progress.
3. Critias
The third and final update will see the launch of a new continent, Critias. Critias will include stronger monsters and an exciting story, larger than the war in the current world. There is supposedly a new PvP mode as well!
All users of every server will be able to come together in this world. This place will have real time PvE that has to do with the invasion of the Black Mage’s commanders. There will also be a 1 vs 100 boss battle, mentioned in my earlier post.
There will also be something new called Battle Monster League, where players can catch monsters to put in your deck and pit them against other players. The Maple Hands mobile app will be released, equipped with an in-game chat functionality with users and groups, as well as event notifications.
