More famous recently for Dragon Sword, China MMO developer/ publisher NetEase has also launched Closed Beta 2 for its arcade-style shooter, Burst Sky. First announced late last year, I finally got my hands on this game, and was really entertained by the old-school gameplay.
Basically, Burst Sky is a side-scrolling aerial shooter, with dodging bullets the essential skill players must master. There are currently 5 playable classes, each with 2 advancements at level 20. Similar to MMORPGs, there are various features such as skills, stats, pets, upgrading of equips etc.
Combat wise, the normal attacks seen are automated, although players can choose to turn it off (why?!). I am really glad to see each of the advancements having different normal attack animations. Yes, cash is needed to unlock more weapon slots, but I will gladly fork out for it ๐
A dungeon-based online game, players of Dragon Nest, Mabinogi Heroes and Dungeon & Fighter Online will be familiar with this system, with each map having several different difficulty levels. New monster and attacks can be seen while going through them.
The game is not without its problems though. First, the resolution is fixed, and no HD ones are available. I am not sure why, but the game will be awesome in a 1920 x 1080 video. Secondly, the dreaded stamina system…
Burst Sky is a really simple game from the surface, but certain skills are required when going in deeper. I have just started my journey, and I can’t wait for Open Beta to come, seeing I have already topped up some cash to try out the cash items myself ๐
