Swordsman Online, which was delayed for a couple of years due to an internal engine change, will finally enter Open Beta in China on 28th June. The date also falls on the same day when Monster Hunter Online enters its first test phase, published by industry leader Tencent Games.
As noted in my preview, while the game looks amazing in terms of graphics, the overall gameplay suffered due to small, instanced maps instead of a wide open world, such as the one found in Age of Wushu. Somehow, this 1 flawed feature managed to put me off the whole “wuxia” experience.
Swordsman Online was teased for the English market back at E3 2010, and it remains to be seen if Perfect World Entertainment will still be publishing the game.
