Netmarble today announced its latest financial records for the last quarter of 2022 and the year as a whole, while also revealing new games which are in development and planned to launch in the near future. One title which caught the eye and was never mentioned before was Seven Knights Idle Adventure, scheduled to launch globally in late 2023. This follows the announcement of the closure of the original Seven Knights.
Not much information is known at this time, but I am sure we are all familiar now with how idle RPG titles work on the mobile platform. It would be amazing to see Netmarble implement some gameplay innovation to this stagnant genre. Other global games mentioned include Solo Leveling: ARISE, Arthdal Chronicles, Tower of God: New World, and Project Knights. Unfortunately, RF Project is not part of the launch slate, along with the game based on Shangri-La Frontier.
Finances wise, like most Korean game developers, performance hasn’t been good for the full year of 2022, with many announcing big dips in earnings and even going in the red. This affected Netmarble as well which can be seen in the graph below. But like all businesses, there are always good and bad times, and at least none of the bigger Korean/ Japanese game corporations are announcing layoffs. In fact, Nintendo is increasing salaries despite lower revenues.
