Following the recent amusing announcement of Overwatch 2 teaming up with One Punch Man for a game collaboration, something unique is arriving in the China server of PUBG Mobile too. Now known as Game For Peace, the latest collaboration coming in a few days feature characters from one of the most popular fantasy wuxia IP in Asia, 仙剑奇侠传 (aka The Legend of Sword and Fairy).
The Legend of Sword and Fairy is sometimes known as the Final Fantasy of Asia (China and Taiwan), spawning many games, TV series, movies, and making huge celebrities out of the actors and actresses since 1995. The most popular media adaptation is known as Chinese Paladin.
While there is really not any major issue with this collaboration, the community of Game for Peace is somewhat bewildered at the thought of these fantasy characters wielding guns, throwing grenades, and driving vehicles rather than using their sword skills (well there is stabbing) and magic spells. But then again, Fortnite’s collaboration with Dragon Ball saw great success. We do wonder what other out-of-this-world collaborations we would see in the future…
