MapleStory 2 was once most of the hyped PC MMORPG around the world, given that it is the 3D modernized sequel to one of the pioneers of Free-to-Play games, MapleStory. However, the global server closed in less than 2 years, with the China server heading the same fate as well. Launched since September 2017, the game officially closes on 2 November 2022.
The original MapleStory is still doing very well worldwide, with the China server under Shengqu Games (formerly Shanda) still thriving. That leaves MapleStory 2 with just the original Korean server managed by Nexon, although major updates are no longer regular other than for seasonal events. We are pretty sure Nexon still has big plans for MapleStory, so stay tuned!
