We are back with an indie Chinese game! As gamers growing up in the 90s, Gunbound from Softnyx is one of the iconic PC online games which left a deep impression. While the game is somewhat still alive one way or another with many clones as well, a true modern, 2.0 take wasn’t really there in the market after a couple of decades. Psychic Tanks, a Chinese indie game which entered Alpha Test recently, caught our eyes.
While the artwork and graphics aren’t top-level, the idea of mixing common RPG elements works well here, such as storyline, tons of tanks, and the unique way skills can work to take out enemies, weaknesses, and shaping the terrains. There is nothing automated! Yes, there is the dreaded gacha system, but we are in 2021 now, and as long as the game is fun, some money sink is alright. Psychic Tanks isn’t going to set the world alight, but it certainly brought back memories.
