Surprising news came out from Japan today as Bandai Namco announced a new MMORPG, Blue Protocol. Developed in-house by a team known as Project Sky Blue with members from Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios, Blue Protocol is being crafted using Unreal Engine 4. An action MMORPG, it is currently just announced for the PC. This is definitely a shock as it is not a mobile game and Bandai Namco is traditionally known to develop or publish console games based on popular series such as Naruto and One Piece.
Note: The press release states that Blue Protocol is a multiplayer online action RPG. Some word Nazis called us out for wrongly stating this is a MMORPG… We rest our case.
Blue Protocol is based on a brand-new IP created by Project Sky Blue, which is a big reason for creating this team. The game, as seen in the screenshot above, will sport an anime-style design along with action combat, pretty much in the same vein as KurtzPel. The graphics are aimed to be on par to that of an animation movie’s, and as a MMORPG there is a heavy focus on multiplayer elements. If you look closely at the current logo of Blue Protocol, there are some English text which will provide sort of a spoiler to the main theme. The Project Sky Blue team is also working on various other concepts at the same time.
