Earlier today, SEGA announced a new mobile game, Idola: Phantasy Star Saga, an official entry in the Phantasy Star RPG franchise which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Set to launch later this year on Android and IOS devices in Japan, Idola: Phantasy Star Saga takes place on a the world of Vandoli where swords and magic clash. A familiar foe will be in the form of Dark Phallus, one of the series’ main antagonists including Phantasy Star Online 2.
Surprisingly, “Idola” are the monsters which players are going up against in the game. The combat system of Idola: Phantasy Star Saga will require players to do some finger flicking to activate skills and spells. An important element is the Law and Fate system, which will be introduced indepth on a later date. Yes, this is no doubt very familiar to Fate/Grand Order, which is a very popular game worldwide right now. Well, if it works, just give it a makeover!
The 2 protagonists are Stella (I am pretty sure this name is used very often in JRPG) , leader of a group of heroes known as White Sheep Knights, and Yuri who joined as a unit leader. Of course, players will get to meet and recruit more characters during their journey throughout Vandoli. SEGA also announced some of the key staff behind the 30th anniversary project, including Shuntaro Tanaka, Tomomasa Chin, and Sho Mutsuura, all whom worked on Phantasy Star Online 2 and popular games such as Valkyria Chronicles and Sakura Wars.
