Vision Esports, the ownership group which owns esports team Echo Fox, recently announced it has raised USD 38 million in a funding round. The round was led by Evolution Media, an investment firm backed by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and private equity firm TPG Growth. Other investors, outside of the athletes, include Shamrock Holdings, the private investment firm backed by the Walt Disney family (separate from the company).
Vision Esports was formed by former San Jose Sharks minority owner Stratton Sclavos, video game developer Jace Hall and former MGM Resorts executive Chris Nordling. On the other hand, Echo Fox was founded by three-time NBA champion and actor Rick Fox, which also received investment from the New York Yankees. Long story short, Echo Fox is secured for the long term when it comes to finances. 2018 is only going to get better for esport!
