EVOS eSports, an Indonesian gaming team focused on DOTA 2, recently announced it has acquired Fortius Gaming for its League of Legends team. The acquisition, worth a 6-figure sum in cash and stock options, is touted as the first deal of its kind in the Southeast Asia eSports industry. EVOS eSports also recently acquired Team Abyssus, a competitive Hearthstone team based in Singapore.
The League of Legends team, now under the EVOS eSports flag, will be located in Vietnam, where a new team will be built around star player Thanh “Beyond” Truong. Changes to the roster are still being finalized. Ivan Yeo, founder of EVOS eSports, claimed that this move is just the first to establish EVOS eSports as the dominant eSports brand in the region, with more announcements to be made soon.
