Foxconn Technology Group, the Taiwanese multinational electronics company which manufactures iPhones, iPads, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, recently revealed it is setting up an eSPorts team for League of Legends. This was announced at the end of a 6-month long League of Legends tournament which Foxconn organized for its employees from all over China.
The team is set to debut and compete next year in the much bigger and lucrative China LPL. With a market cap of nearly US$40 billion as of May 2016, Foxconn claims it will pick team members internally from its corporation, now with over 1 million employees in China alone. Not a bad initiative for a company normally lambasted for its inhumane employee treatment.
