Less than a year after the name change to NZIN Corporation, the gaming division of Kakao is gearing up for another corporate name change. Kakao, if you did not know, is famous for the popular South Korean chat app, KakaoTalk. Back to the name change, NZIN Corporation is set to be changed to “Kakao Games Corporation”, pending a final approval from a shareholders’ meeting on 30 June.
Kakao also confirmed it is setting up Kakao Games Europe BV (now known as Daum Games Europe BV, publisher of Black Desert Online) and also Kakao Games USA Inc for its Western expansion plans. Similar to the functions of NZIN Corporation, Kakao Games will handle all games-related business for Kakao, including mobile games, PC online games, VR games, and possibly console titles.
