While Blizzard is battling copyright issues in China, it has hit somewhat of a similar problem back home in the US. You see, Blizzard’s trademark for its new online shooter, Overwatch, was suspended by the US Patent Office as the “Overwatch” name clashed with another game-related product.
This Overwatch, developed by Innovis Labs, is sort of a mobile augmented-reality socialĀ game. I am not sure what Blizzard’s lega team was doing, but Innovis Labs filed the trademark around 6 months earlier. Blizzard has yet to respond to the issue, though I am intrigued with the events.
