Earlier today, developer PearlAbyss and publisher Daum Games held a media press conference to officially announce the Open Beta details for Black Desert. Open Beta will begin on 17th December, client download on 10th December and character creation from 12th to 15th December. And yes, Black Desert will be Free-to-Play, with a business model known as “partial monetization”.
There will be brand new regions, monsters, gears and more in the Open Beta version, though mysteriously, there aren’t any new classes from since the early Closed Beta days. Other features will include a bevy of life skills (fishing, gathering, cooking etc), guild PvP (castle siege), player housing and a “large number” of servers which will maximize the number of players.
According to reports, PearlAbyss has even prepared 7 different graphics settings for Black Desert, accommodating to gamers with different PC specifications. Kudos to the developer for making this tedious but necessary step. Publisher Daum Games is also teaming up with around 9,000 PC bangs (internet gaming cafes) around South Korea to promote the game. Big marketing move there.
