[Official website] The team behind indie-MMO City of Titans has revealed they will be using the Unreal Engine 4 to power their super-powered world.
Missing Worlds Media, the volunteer-studio behind the upcoming MMO announced today that talks with Epic took place shortly after the completion of their successful Kickstarter.
Nathaniel Downes, president of Missing Worlds Media said: “We had been working with the Unreal 3 engine, and Epic could not have been more pleasant to deal with.
“After our Kickstarter, we were offered the opportunity to use Unreal 4 going forward. We are very excited about the project, and have been working with the new engine since December. It has been amazing seeing our city starting to come to life, thanks to the versatility and flexibility it has to offer.”
The Unreal Engine 4’s rendering architecture allows developers to achieve stunning visuals, while scaling to lower-end systems. It includes DirectX11 rendering features, persona animation, and matinee cinematics among its features.
Lead developer for City of Titans, Chris “Warcabbit” Hare, added: “Since we completed our Kickstarter, we had a lot of people in our community asking why we weren’t posting up screenshots or showing them videos of what we were working on – well, now they know why.
“We managed to use some of our expanded success on an expanded license, so the world they helped us to fund will be even more vibrant and thriving than they had imagined. And our backers dream big. It’s been a long road, but Epic has been a great partner to work with. We couldn’t ask for better friends in the business.”
