Announced back in 2010, NCsoft moved into its new office building not too long ago. With 5 basement levels and 12 above, the building is home to over 3,000 staff and commands a space of around 3,500 square meters. The Korean media was invited for a tour, and here are some facilities found.
What is an office building without a convention hall, auditorium and lecture rooms? Not only used for seminars, in-house lessons and meetings, these areas are available for all NCsoft employees to hold their weddings. Yes, weddings, with a bridal dressing room hidden somewhere as well.
Knowledge is power, and there can never be any without a library. With over 20,000 books and full sets of multimedia equipments (game consoles) and many game discs available, this is like knowledge heaven for the staff. There are also foreign books, magazines, not just purely about work.
1 of the rare features found in even the biggest companies, NCsoft now has an in-house clinic with state-of-the-art medical equipments. Not kidding here, just look at the photos below. The women’s lounge is only for the female gender, of course, and it is said to be for mums to breastfeed their babies in private other than resting.
Talking about babies (and kids), there is a childcare center as well, with operations running like any other in town. There are trained workers and teachers here to keep employees’ children occupied every single working day, along with special chefs and nutritionists. The entrance is easily spotted, given the unique wood carving.
Next, the fitness and gym area for employees. The in-house spa can accommodate up to 40 people at any time, while the gym is big enough for 200. There are trainers in the gym helping out the employees, and I read there is even a yoga trainer here!
It is time to pile on the calories once gym lesson is done! Food at the food court located at B1 is free for all NCsoft staff, featuring Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Western dishes. The dining area seats a total of 640 people.
According to the Korean media, this NC Cafe is used to support disadvantaged women from all around the country. Other than having welfare benefits like NCsoft staff, this special group will have a share of the cafe’s operating income. Hats off to NCsoft, really.
Before I forget, the new office building is really about working hard as well. The work area in the building looks pretty normal, with the partitions lowered to facilitate communication. There is also a pantry, along with phone booths to allow staff to take calls in private.
Finally, NCsoft’s very own merchandise store. While not fully in action yet, the current items being sold are based on Lineage, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary in Korea. These items are designed by NCsoft’s very own staff.
