I expected this since months ago, and it indeed came true. A Realm Reborn will be getting special appearances from 2 other games, Final Fantasy XI and Dragon Quest X, with the egoistic Shantotto returning as a boss and pet. If you remember, Shantotto had her own expansion in FFXI!
Representing Dragon Quest X Online, which is coming to Windows PC soon, will be the legendary Gold Man (or Gold Golem), leading his gang of other golems wrecking havoc in Eorzea. Similar to Shantotto, he will be a boss character and will be available as a pet as well.
In other updates, character transfer for A Realm Reborn will be activated in early next month (October). I am seeing complains of server congestion and the long queues on a daily basis in my Facebook feed, perhaps this will finally solve the many login issues.
As producer Naoki Yoshida also presented at Tokyo Game Show 2013, new content such as player housing, Good King Moogle (hard mode), Primal battles (Extreme mode) and more daily stuff will be coming in version 2.1, currently scheduled to launch by year’s end.
