Perfect World China held a closed-door media test event a couple of days back for its latest MMORPG, Legend of the Condor Heroes: Zero, and some information was made available. While having 8 schools to choose from is pretty awesome, the 3 combat modes is the feature which caught my eyes.
As seen below, the 3 modes are (from left to right) Zero recommended, Traditional action combat and Traditional. For Traditional, players will get to see the old mouse pointer back, making it a standard point-and-click MMORPG.
For Traditional action combat, it will be similar to those available on the market. If players are facing the front, clicking on the left mouse key will only attack those in the front. Pretty standard if you played games such as Dragon Nest and Mabinogi Heroes (Vindictus).
For Zero recommended, the system adds on to Traditional action combat, where characters automatically face towards the nearest enemies and attack them. This is still non-target action combat, just that players will not have to manually turn the camera all the time to see mobs.
Pretty interesting eh? I have always wanted an online game with different combat modes, and ever since the first try nearly a decade ago by Risk Your Life (now known as Return of Warrior). And just to note, all 3 modes can be changed at anytime in Zero via the F10, 11 and 12 keys.
