[Closure announcement] With the Asian servers all enjoying massive popularity and having a large group of fans in the western market as well, Nexon has announced the closure of Dungeon Fighter Online. Min Kim, CEO of Nexon America, gave the reason that it “has not attracted enough player interest to properly service the game.”
This is a really bad way to start the day right after April Fools’, especially when I just plowed through the Dungeon Fighter Online forums the other day and still seeing many discussions going on. Players are getting mad due to the lack of updates, which is reasonable.
Looking at Nexon North America’s other titles, I find it hard to fathom that Dungeon Fighter Online is the least popular. Navyfield 2? Sudden Attack? Combat Arms? I have no idea why the company is still IP blocking its games, I seriously don’t find it profitable at all.
Another issue going through my mind, why not remove the IP block and allow access for regions without their own server? Isn’t that suppose to be the 2nd last resort before waving the white flag? I wonder what Nexon’s plans for North America might be now…
