At a Ghost in the Shell event held yesterday in Japan (not Korea), the online game series revealed late last year was further detailed by Nexon at a media conference held in Japan, where Nexon is being stock-listed. Seen below is the recording of the media conference. Enjoy!
The current launch schedule is set for the 1st half of 2014, with the game being an online shooter (coined as “hacking FPS”) and primarily based on 3 titles: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society.
Being an online shooter, there is no doubt there will be factions. Player will either select to play as the hackers/ cyber terrorists or as a member of Section 9. According to the press, everyone will be a cyborg, allowing players to configure how mechanized their characters will be. Sounds like the 2008 RPG, Space Siege, if anyone played.
Neople, the Nexon studio which made Dungeon & Fighter and Cyphers, is handling this Ghost in the Shell project. Staying true to the anime series, there will be PvE and PvP going on at the same time. There is this “hacking” feature, which was only presented in words. Via this hacking function, players can manipulate the battlefield (apparently through controlling PvE mobs) and aid comrades.
