Well, it has been some time since I posted anything about Perfect World’s upcoming martial arts MMORPG, Swordsman Online. Along with Age of Wulin and Butterfly Sword Online, it is the Big 3 martial arts MMO anticipated by gamers in China.
Sadly, the game has been postponed till Q2 next year for Open Beta in the country. In this post, there are some questions and answers provided by the developer so far. For more info about the game, head to my previous posts.
Q: What is that yellow circular bar below the character’s head image on the top?
A: That is the vulnerability value gauge. Similar to an actual wuxia fight, everytime someone uses a move (like attacking), he or she is bound to be vulnerable to attacks.
Q: What happens when the gauge is full?
A: In PvE combat, the open world monsters’ AI is not up to the standard where they will exploit this yet. In PvP, you will be severely weakened when being attacked. It is crucial to manage and monitor the vulnerability gauge closely.
Q: How do I lower the gauge?
A: You can either retreat from combat mode or pull yourself far enough from the attacker/s. In open world PvE, you need not worry about the meter being full, but in the instances, the AI is much higher and they may take advantage about a full meter and do combo attacks on players.
Q: Does it mean players around bound to lose a PvP match once the vulnerability gauge is full?
A: That will depend on the situation. Players can still dodge and block attacks at that point of time.
Q: There is another yellow bar beside the skill panel. What is that?
A: That is the rage bar, and the one beside will be stamina for using qingong.
Q: What is the rage bar for?
A: There are 5 levels of rage to be filled, each level giving players a different skill. These skills are more powerful of course, with a full bar giving players the chance to execute an ultimate move.
