It wouldn’t take a genius to see how this year’s G*Star is largely more of a disappointment for us gamers compared to last year’s.There were indeed good games displayed and announced this year, but the overall quality is really nothing to cheer about. Call me a pessimist, every since following the event a few years back, this has got to be the worse with few surprises as well. Let us look at some of the bigger game companies and what they offered.
ArcheAge and Blade & Soul are understandably missing, in some context, due to them making a major appearance at the upcoming Tencent Games Carnival and deciding to do business over at the Business to Business area as well. For TERA, I was thinking why Hangame did not show it again to boost the game’s publicity with some new stuff.
If WeMade can book a booth just for Lost Saga with no new information, yet draw a crowd still, why can’t Hangame do it for TERA? Rockman Online is sadly missing as well, and most would be surprised by its omission. I am guessing the game is primed for a mega display at Tokyo Game Show 2012, the franchise’s hometown.
Mabinogi 2, MapleStory 2, Mabinogi Heroes: Chapter 10, Silkroad Online 2 and Cabal II (hiding in the B2B area) are just some of the game I am aching not to get anything out on in the public area. Why are there no surprises as well this year, excluding Lineage Eternal? I do hope G*Star 2013 will be a better one for us gamers’ sake.
