How fast time flew… Another week is coming to its end! I am taking a short break from completing my college assignment while typing this, and it really shows how busy I really am during this period. April Fools’ Day this year seems to have a focus on the various motion sensors for consoles, especially Xbox 360’s Kinect. The Chinese, Korean and even English gaming industries are all having the same theme. Is there actually a secret international society where the online, consoles and portable gaming companies communicate on a regular basis? Hmn…
Back to trivial MMO news. In Korea, it is now legal to sell instant noodles and coffee in internet and cyber cafes to customers. Previously, these actions were seen as “cooking”, which the shops were not allowed to do. Since then, the government has stated that “adding hot water to stuff does not amount to cooking”. Amusing. Also, the internet and cyber cafes are hand in hand to oppose another rule set by the government – the ban of smoking within the premises. The owners argued that if the law goes through, they will lose up to 50% of their revenue due to a loss of customers. Woah.
Some news regarding this small blog, a new publisher in the English MMO scene contacted me about spreading some beta keys for their maiden title. I played a previous beta version of the game and actually liked it alot. Comments in the forums and videos were positive as well, hence I agreed to it. Yeah, I do choose which games I will like to help promote. But still, please be reminded that I am not being paid at all… I just like to share the good stuff for free ๐ The beta keys will be ready in a few days I guess, so look out for them.
More stuff about this blog, I actually only inserted Google Analytics just back in February this year. I never really did fiddle around the various data modes until recently. A small shot of the audience who visited MMO Culture and many thanks to all ๐
On a personal note, nothing changed so far, still fighting demons in the form of college and getting worried about my future in the MMO industry. If I don’t get a job overseas in the MMO industry, I might have to quit it all together and switch to another industry. The local market is too small and apparently no chance in sight for me to climb up the ladder and learn more stuff. Sigh~ Have a good week ahead all!
