According to various foreign reports, China’s biggest internet company, Tencent, will be sending a team to South Korea later this month to clinch a deal for NCsoft’s next epic MMORPG, Blade & Soul. It will be the 3rd confirmed server after Korea and Taiwan (no official news about English server as of now).
This does not really come as a surprise, as Tencent recently acquired the publishing rights for Lineage 1 and Lineage 2 in China and the rumor was already making its way around. Another rumor also stated that Tencent has withdrawn from the ArcheAge deal, paving the way for the company to bring in Blade & Soul.
A recap of some of the mega titles the big 3 MMO companies of China have: Tencent – None; Netease – World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2, rumored to be bringing in TERA; Shanda Games – Aion, Final Fantasy XIV (in development). Tencent is certainly under some pressure given its lack of world-renown titles.
