The Sea Dragon update for Dragon Nest hit the Korean server in December 2010, while the Japanese server is getting it soon on 23rd March. As posted previously, no one on the Korean server has managed to beat the instanced dungeon of the Sea Dragon yet, with the Japanese server offering the first team a hefty cash prize of over USD 120,000 for the feat once the update goes live. The China server will be getting the update within the next few months, and some questions from the anxious community were answered by the developer, Eyedentity Games.
Q: This is the first update in which a dragon is finally added. Is there any special meaning for the game?
The appearance of the first dragon actually signifies the start of the real adventure in Dragon Nest. What is Dragon Nest without dragons? Sea Dragon is also the one who killed the NPC, Geraint (thanks to Spadow) adding the first adventure of a dragon nest with more purpose.
Q: From the no-show in the Korean server to the high cash prize the Japanese server is offering, does it mean that players are not able to complete this instance at the current level cap (40)?
As an action MMORPG, the result is not totally affected by level and equipments that much. The main components are players being fast to respond to incoming attacks, control and teamwork. Well, with a tiny bit of luck at times. Comparing the current instances record between the China and Korean server, the Chinese community is doing very well indeed, and I expect some wonderful battles in the Sea Dragon instance. With the heightened challenge, the rewards given will match the difficulty as well, with S-class gears being dropped. Taking feedback from the publishers, the players generally agreed that the past few instances, like the Manticore’s, were too easy. And hence, this is part of the reason why the Sea Dragon instance is made more difficult to pass.
Q: The Sea Dragon instance introduced the first 8-man dungeon to the game. How is it different compared with 4-man dungeons?
From the surface, it looks like just an increment of 4 men to the team, with players initially worried if the difficulty will be lowered and some players are just there for the ride and looting items. In actual fact, it is harder for the leader to command and give instructions to more players. It will require a really strict and experienced leader to conquer th Sea Dragon instance. And of course, compared to the other instances, the size and area of the instance was scaled properly to a bigger one. It will be interesting to see the many different types combinations trying to clear the instance.
Q: When will the China server get the update?
We are looking forward to a race between China, Korea and Japan if possible. The update will hit the China server no later than the release date for Japan’s (23rd March).
Below is a quick look at the Sea Dragon set (not official name) from Korean gaming website, This Is Game, with no doubt once again, the Warrior is getting the nicest look… Priest looks weird!!!
