As I posted a few weeks (or months) back, Nexon had successfully purchased a holding stake (now at 29.3%) in game developer GameHi, which is known for MMOs including hit MMOFPS Sudden Attack, Dekaron and the upcoming Metal Rage. In a bid to cut costs and contain spending, Nexon has decided to slowly layoff around 25% of GameHi’s staff which is around 400 employees strong. Nexon stressed that this layoff only happened after careful planning of finances and resources which will help GameHi’s long-term growth.
The internal development team’s structure will also be changed. 2 MMOs which are in development, including Transpee and kid-friendly MMO, Spring, will be canceled. It is also revealed that Dekaron 2 and Sudden Attack 2 are in development. Expect more news at the official shareholders’ meeting coming end of July.
