If you have missed my previous posts on RaiderZ, please click here. Do note that this is a translated interview based on an actual interview done by the Korean media with the developer. Developers by the creator of GunZ, Maiet Entertainment, RaiderZ is an upcoming action MMORPG with stunning graphics and battle animations. According to earlier reports on the Internet, the game will not have any specific classes, skills are all open to every players, monsters do not drop gold and even equipments. How true are all these rumors? Answers are provided by a representative from Maiet Entertainment(below).
Q: It is being speculated that there will be no fixed classes in RaiderZ and every skills will be open to all players to learn. Will there be a possibility that players will stick to just one or two super powerful skill combos to dominate in PvE and PvP?
A: The standard of gaming in Korea is very high, and hence we are also anxious that such an event will happen. But being worried does not mean we cannot give it a try. The main aspect of this feature is to allow players to be as creative and free as possible when developing a character will skills matching their abilities.
Q: In many MMOs, a group of different classes will be needed to take down a boss character. However, there will be no such class system in RaiderZ. Will players have a much more difficult time killing such boss characters?
A: In standard MMOs, there will be different roles such as the healer, DPS, tank etc. We do have healing skills in RaiderZ for players to learn, but it is also possible to down boss characters without those skills. We do hope players work in a group and formulate strategies to bring down boss characters instead of the traditional way.
Q: RaiderZ seems to be an appropriate game to be developed as a room-based MMO.
A: RaiderZ was indeed developed at first as a room-based MMO. But we realized that changing it to a MMORPG means there will be more interaction between players and more interesting, so we did just that.
Q: Ever since the first promotional trailer was released (below), a section of gamers has been labeling it as a clone of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Frontier.
A: It can’t be helped as the first video focused on the boss fights. We will be releasing new trailers to cover other aspects of the game from time to time before its launch.
Q: How can players level up and progress in the game?
A: Same as most MMORPGs, but there will be less focus on quests. Players will instead be more focus on driving invading monsters out from their homeland. There will be around 6 main skill types and 300 skills for players to choose from and customize their characters.
Q: Bosses are said to spawn in the open areas. Will there be a problem of high level players camping for the same mob over and over again, discouraging other players to give it a shot?
A: Whenever a group of players defeat a boss, they will gain a status to enter an instance to challenge a even stronger boss, acquiring even stronger equipments. This will limit the number of boss camping. Otherwise, players will have to resolve such conflicts amongst themselves. What is a MMO without conflicts?
Q: In the trailer (above, 1:35), it is shown a monster “swallowing” a player. Is that a lethal move?
A: The player will only be unable to move and trap inside the monster’s mouth. Party members will have to attack the lower jaw area of the monster to make it spit the player out. If not saved in time, the player will be swallowed down into the stomach and receive massive damage. (No word is said on how the swallowed player will be released.)
Q: Wll the equipment features differ from other MMOs’ ?
A: I cannot reveal much as it is still under development. I can only confirm that players will be able to dye their equipments. The process of acquiring equipments will also be one of the main features.
Q: What is the level cap?
A: For now, the level cap for Closed Beta will be 20, 50 for Open Beta. There will be 16 Epic Monsters (Bosses) available for Closed Beta.
Q: What can players expect when reaching the level cap?
A: During Closed Beta, the main aim is to test out the PvE system. PvP will be added at a alter stage, including 1 Vs 1, Capture the Flag, PvP Arena etc.
Q: When can we expect Closed Beta to being?
A: Summer 2010, which is within these few months.
