Project Empire ,or Project EM, (its a codename) is Perfect World Entertainment’s 2010 blockbuster MMORPG. And if the sources are right, for the first time, the company’s game will be released in NA and EU first, instead of China, where the headquarters are. Why so ? Project EM is actually developed with the Western players in mind, hence the more Westernized theme players can see from the various artwork.
Project EM intends to take players around the world, to explore the various ancient civilizations, including Egypt, Venice and Rome for example. The game has been in development for 3years, so expect some official announcement regarding the existence of the game in 2010.
IGN actually got a first look at the game, even if its just a trailer, back at E3 2009, which was not released to the public. Here’s what IGN reported:
Perfect World has debuted a new game at E3, but only via trailer. It only has a working code name for now: Project Empire, and that’s sounding like the final title will not use either word.
Judging from the short trailer, it’s a medieval fantasy MMO. The trailer itself is reminiscent of a Blizzard trailer; there’s a guy clad in medieval armor battling a huge, humanoid creature in a snowy mountain setting. It ends with a shot of an army, heraldic banners fluttering.
We’re told that this is a major, big budget effort from Perfect World, and that most of the company’s development resources in China are focused on the game. There are no details yet as to when it comes out, or when we’ll even learn more about the game.
Here are some of the original artwork which were released, but they are the ones which has been supposedly discarded and not used by the development team. Its still gives a glimpse of what the game will be like in terms of style and design.
