I have only played the game for 2 days, so here is my first impression (its not a review) of it. Silent Plot 1 is set in a time where every country is at war, and nuclear strikes finally brought and end to the war. Europe is now in ruins, and a special task force, Union, is formed by several countries is ordered to restore peace and order to the land. However, the nuclear strikes brought to life millions of hideous monsters, and woke up the latent powers inside a huge number of humans, eventually known as mutants. The mutants, with the power of immortality, are gathered to find out what is going on within the land, and the players will start as one.
There are 4 classes in the game, the Priest (dual swords), Blaster (energy cannon), Blader (2 handed sword) and the Hitman (dual pistol). Customization is pretty limited and nothing to wow about.
The starting city looks pretty big , maybe its because of the huge buildings around, but once you get to move around, the size seems much smaller. Of course, channel 1 is where to load of the people are, trading and chatting.
The quest NPCs, like in most games, have a rather bright exclamation mark above them, while NPCs with quests to turn in have a question mark. Quests give an okay amount of gold and EXP, but that’s till a certain level before the rewards start to get… lousy due to the amount of EXP needed to level.
This is one thing about the game I hate. Awful graphics during the cut scenes. I appreciate the fact that there are cut scenes with voice overs, but making them look so ugly with no lip movement and minimal body/facial expressions just kinda ticked me off.
The NPC equipments are rather expensive even for low levels. Luckily for me, there was an event going on, where mobs drop various event items. The high levels were paying obscene amount of gold for them ^_^ And here’s how the inventory looks.
The combat system is really easy. Left click, and the character will automatically run up to the mob and attack till its dead. Ranged attacks cannot go through objects like the trees and rocks, but here’s the big problem I had. Standing beside, like the tree, will have the error “An object is blocking. Unable to attack”. Its really frustrating some times.
As a ranged character, like the Hitman or Blaster, players can shoot and hit the chasing mob while moving backwards, which is darn cool if the mob moves slow. Also, players will have to face the mob to attack. Spinning the screen around without the mob insight will cancel the attack.
After testing all 4 classes, I think I am going to stick with the Blaster. Energy cannon is loads of fun ~! Dual pistol is enjoyable too, but somehow I prefer the big guns ^_^
First impression verdict:
The game isn’t bad, the settings and plot is kinda like Resident Evil, the art style is rather unique. The minus points should be the bland combat and soon to be (2010) outdated 3D graphics. With the heavy F2P hitters like TERA Online, Mabinogi Heroes and more games using the Unreal 3 engine coupled with better features landing on the English market next year, its now or never if any publisher intends to bring the game to English shores. The time is here. The time is now.
